He claims that the Riverlands nations are not entirely an accurate comparison, as their histories have advanced an additional thousand or so years, and have been shaped by griffin adversaries. Lake City's democracy isn't a perfect parallel for ancient Earth Pony democracy, nor is Nimbusia's... whatever they do as strange and horrifying as ancient Pegasi, but it gives you some idea.

I would fix up my ma's house, get her a new hearth, running water, and everything nice. I would buy us–or build–a great new house to live like nobles in, and servants to wait on our every need. We could have a big, fast automobile to drive everywhere we want to go. And…and, I'd set some of it aside so one day our foals could go to college. Wouldn't that be nice, Mustard?" She looks up dreamily at him, with a wide smile across her face.
