I meant to post this a couple days ago. Turkey said it wouldn't let the US use its airspace to attack Iran. This likely played a role in the US's decision not to attack.

They are a NATO country. I don't think they have that choice.
They can say that the US isn't allowed to use Turkey to launch attacks from, but if the US military wants to pass through Turkey, i think they have to let them.

They do, actually. Nothing in the treaty says they have to let the USA use their airspace for this.
Israel is not part of NATO, so wars for Israel's defense don't invoke any NATO treaty.
